Scholarship Program
The Kiwanis Club of Topsail Island Area, continuing its long standing commitment to the young people of Onslow and Pender counties, has awarded scholarships in the amount of $3,000 each to graduating seniors at Dixon and Topsail High Schools. These scholarship awards recognize academic achievement and service. Funding for these scholarships comes from fund-raising activities conducted throughout the year by the Topsail Kiwanis Club. The Topsail Island Area Kiwanis Club and the Topsail Island Kiwanis Foundation work jointly to award these scholarships.
2018 Scholarship Recipients

The recipients of the 2018 Key Club Scholarships were recognized at the Kiwanis Scholarship Breakfast reception held May 22nd at the Surf City Welcome Center. Steve Cokor, Scholarship Committee, Chair, presented scholarship certificates to Jessica Blackburn, Dixon High School, Nick Sanders, Dixon High School, Julia Nasco, Topsail High School and Mary-Clare Farrell, Topsail High School. Key Club advisors are Don Martin, Natalie Rouleau, Andrea Carter, and Tim Horner.
The Madison C. Yingling Legacy Scholarship was presented by Tim Hodell, Foundation, Chair, to Harper Williams, New Hanover High School.

2016 Scholarship Recipients

The Kiwanis Club of Topsail Island Area, continuing its long standing commitment to the young people of Onslow and Pender counties, has awarded scholarships in the amount of $3,000 each to graduating seniors at Dixon and Topsail High Schools. The recipients of these scholarships were recognized at a Kiwanis Scholarship Breakfast reception held May 26th at the Surf City Welcome Center.
This year’s recipients are Shelby Taylor from Dixon High School, and Mia Smithley and Luke Waltermire from Topsail High School. Taylor will attend North Carolina State University. Smithley will attend UNC Wilmington and Luke will attend George Mason University, in Fairfax, Va.
The Kiwanis Club of Topsail Island Area also awards a scholarship in the amount of $3,000 to a graduating senior who is the child or grandchild of a current member of the Kiwanis Club of Topsail Island Area. This year the recipient of this scholarship is Erin Hodell, a high school senior from Evans, Ga., who is the granddaughter of Tim and Suzanne Hodell. Hodell will attend the University of South Carolina, in Columbia.
Additionally, this year Topsail Area Kiwanis presented two scholarships to members of the West Carteret Key Club. These winners are Michael Burton and Anastasia Manousaridis. Burton is to attend N.C. State and Manousaridis is to attend UNC Charlotte.
